Ash Wednesday Service This Week – 6:00 pm

The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday. This powerful service is a time of reflection, repentance, forgiveness, and celebrating communion as we begin the journey towards the cross and Easter. Be sure to join us this week at 6:00.

Coming Sunday

Pastor Chris will begin his Lenten series, “The Jesus I Never Knew” with “Will The Real Jesus Please Stand Up?” from Matthew 13:53-58 and Mark 6:1-6. What if God was one of us? Calling ourselves "Christians" doesn't mean we know the Christ we claim to follow. It's easy to contrive our own version of Christianity if getting to know the real Jesus risks confusion, controversy and life-call. Here is a man who shattered all preconceptions of how a Messiah was supposed to talk and act. Do you really want to know this one whom we dare to believe is God with us? If so, the invitation is yours.

Children’s Small Groups – 1 more leader needed!

We are wanting to go a different direction with our children’s program on Wednesday nights. We want to have kids in small groups, led by an adult, rather than one large group. We will have 3-5 children in each small group (age appropriate and same-gender) for 30 minutes, then they will gather for choir practice for the remaining 30 min. That means we need 4 adults who will lead the 30 min small group for the kids on Wednesday night. This is a chance to really disciple our children. Please answer this call and contact Pastor Chris ASAP.

UMW News:

1.) The UMW at RSUMC is creating an Ubuntu service project. It recognizes that each person is a part of a community. We have decided to furnish hygiene supplies to clients of WELCOME as our project. For the month of February, please bring travel size toothpaste and individually packaged toothbrushes. Our goal is 100 bags of hygiene products. Thanks for your support!

2.) Bake Sale!! The UMW Spring Bake Sale will be coming March 31, 2012 from 7 am – 1 pm. Please consider baking something to support the Bake Sale.

3.) UMW District Meeting will be March 10, 2012 at Wetumpka FUMC. We will meet at RSUMC at 7:45 to carpool. Please notify Pamel Trammel if you plan to attend.4.) Due to District Meeting and Bake Sale, there will be no regular March meeting.

5.) G3 (God Grows Girls) will meet on March 10 at 9 am in the Annex.

Clean By Faith Class Continues Wednesday

Would you like to learn strategies to tackle messes in your home and break the bad habits that got you there all while deepening your relationship with God? Classes are Wednesday at 7:00 pm. If you have any questions or would like to sign up, contact Jennifer Gay at 285-0258

Vacation Bible School

We are in the planning stages of VBS and will be announcing dates soon. We are looking for servants now to help so that we can train, pray, and support the VBS program. Child Evangelism Fellowship will once again be working with us on VBS, providing the teaching for the children so we need people to help with games, snacks, and “backstage” support. This year’s theme is “Knowing Christ: The I Am’s of Jesus”. If you are willing to serve, contact Pamela Trammel or Pastor Chris.

Audio Sermons Are Available

We now will have Pastor Chris’ sermons posted on our website in audio .mp3 format each week. We will keep sermons posted for 4 weeks. You can download them, share them, or listen online. You can find the sermons either by going to the main sermons page and following the link at the top or by scrolling down the home page and look at the bottom of the left column where you will see the “audio sermon” page link.

DVD or CD of Worship Available

We are doing a video recording of each week's worship service. If you would like a copy of the service, contact the church office. We have a suggested donation of $1 to cover the cost of the DVD, but if you can't afford that, don't worry about it.
