Piecemakers & We Love Quilting 2 
Robinson Springs United Methodist sponsors two quilting groups. The Piecemakers quiltmaking group meets Tuesdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. And We Love Quilting 2, a quilting class open to beginners as well as seasoned quilters, meets Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Everyone is invited to participate in these two groups.
Juanita Searcy, one of the Piecemakers long-standing members, says “they formed in 1996 and its membership has included women from Robinson Springs United Methodist (5 currently with around 11 active members), from other churches around the community and anyone desiring to belong to an active quiltmaking group.
The Piecemakers support the "Sew Much Comfort" (Maxwell Air Force Base) organiz
ation and make bags to hang on crutches for personal items, lap quilts, pants and hats that are designed for the wounded in our Armed Forces. Another way the quilters help is by working with the organ donor association to construct a quilt from squares made and donated by the families of the donor or recipient of organs in Alabama. Each year, the Piecemakers donate funds to the elementary schools, provide Christmas to needy families or help the Methodist Children’s Home in Selma. Also, the Piecemakers make a quilt to raffle off during their annual quilt show in October. The proceeds gained form this quilt is donated to Robinson Springs in thanks for their hospitality.”
Are you interested in piecing or quilting? Do you have unfinished quilts or blocks inherited that you want finished? This group can help you get started. No experience is required … just a desire to complete an unfinished project started by someone you love and a desire to join a quiltmaking group.
We Love Quilting 2 is in its third year with many members attending. Since most of the ladies work and have little time to quilt, the class learns quick projects (reversible table runners, seasonal wall decorations, quilted jackets, bed quilts).”
